Villa Cipressi Lake Como Wedding

Watch the Wedding Film

Before diving into the story, press play and experience this unforgettable Villa Cipressi wedding on Lake Como through motion, music, atmosphere, and emotion.

We travelled to Lake Como to film a breathtaking destination wedding at Villa Cipressi, where an American couple gathered their favorite people for a multi-day celebration filled with slow boat rides, emotional vows, candlelit dinners, live music, and the kind of joy that makes you forget what time it is.

A Pre-Wedding Boat Ride Across Lake Como

Before the wedding day even began, guests boarded classic wooden boats for what can only be described as the most glamorous sightseeing tour imaginable.

The day before the wedding, everyone explored the lake together passing by iconic villas, hidden gardens, charming waterfront towns, and those legendary Lake Como views that somehow look even better in real life. One minute you’re sipping champagne while floating past Bellagio. The next, you’re pretending not to take 700 photos of Villa del Balbianello.

And somewhere in between, the couple sat quietly at the front of the boat taking it all in: the mountains, the water, the people they love, the fact that they were about to get married in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

As destination wedding videographers, these are the moments we live for.

Getting to Villa Cipressi

Let’s talk logistics.

First of all: yes, it is absolutely worth the journey.

Guests usually arrive via Milan before making their way toward Varenna, one of the most charming villages on Lake Como. And while there are technically “practical” ways to get there, we strongly recommend choosing the route that makes you feel like the main character.

That means:

  • taking the train through Northern Italy while staring dramatically out the window,
  • arriving by boat if possible,

arriving by car is the fastest, but you need to book the parking in advance.

Villa Cipressi sits directly on the lake in Varenna, hidden behind historic gardens, cypress trees, stone staircases, and the kind of views that make people suddenly consider quitting their jobs and moving to Italy.

Pro tip: If Google Maps tells you the walk is “just a few minutes,” understand that Lake Como minutes involve hills, stairs, cobblestones, emotional distractions, and stopping every twenty seconds to say: “Wait… this is insane.”

Pack elegant shoes. Also pack backup shoes.

A Romantic Ceremony Overlooking Lake Como

The wedding ceremony took place in the iconic gardens of Villa Cipressi overlooking the lake. And there’s really no way to prepare yourself for that view.

The ceremony felt intimate, emotional, and deeply personal. No overproduction. No distractions. Just two people completely in love, surrounded by mountains, water, flowers, and their closest friends and family.

The Lake Como light reflected onto the gardens while boats drifted quietly in the background. Guests laughed, cried, and immediately reached for tissues the second the vows started.

As destination wedding videographers, we always look for weddings that feel authentic rather than performative. And this wedding had that rare quality where every interaction felt effortless. Nothing forced. Nothing staged. Just emotion.

Al Fresco Dinner in Villa Cipressi

After cocktail hour in the gardens, guests moved into an unforgettable al fresco dinner overlooking the lake.

Tables with candles, florals, wine glasses, and Italian food stretched across the terrace while the sun slowly disappeared behind the mountains.

And then came the music.

A live band transformed the evening from elegant dinner party into full cinematic celebration.

Guests danced outdoors late into the night under string lights while Lake Como sparkled behind them. Parents danced with friends. Champagne glasses appeared out of nowhere. Someone definitely lost track of time.

Things to Consider When Planning a Villa Cipressi Wedding

Lake Como is undeniably magical.

But it also likes to keep couples humble.

One of the most important things to know when planning a wedding at Villa Cipressi is that the weather in Lake Como can be incredibly unpredictable.

Sunny skies can suddenly turn into dramatic storms, followed by golden light twenty minutes later like nothing ever happened.

And honestly? That unpredictability is part of what makes Lake Como feel cinematic.

Our advice:

  • always have a weather backup plan,
  • trust your planner,
  • and embrace the atmosphere rather than chasing perfect conditions.

Some of the most emotional and visually beautiful wedding footage happens right before the rain starts.

Another important thing to know is that the famous gardens of Villa Cipressi are open to the public during the day.

Which means: while they reserve the area for ceremonies and cocktails, couples should not expect complete privacy for a first look or couple’s portrait session in the gardens during visiting hours.

Lake Como attracts visitors from all over the world, and Villa Cipressi is one of the most iconic places to explore.

However — there is a beautiful little secret.

At golden hour, once the gardens close to the public, the atmosphere changes completely. The crowds disappear. The light softens. And suddenly the villa feels intimate again.

We managed to take the couple down to the famous doors overlooking the lake and it honestly felt like stepping into a classic Italian romance film.

Why Villa Cipressi Is One of the Best Wedding Venues in Lake Como

There’s a reason couples from all over the world choose Villa Cipressi for their destination wedding in Italy.

It combines:

  • historic Italian charm,
  • luxury lakefront views,
  • the town of Varenna is stunning and charming.

  • and the relaxed elegance that makes Lake Como weddings feel timeless.

For couples dreaming of a romantic wedding in Lake Como, Villa Cipressi offers a perfect balance between luxury and authenticity.

It feels refined without feeling untouchable. Elegant without trying too hard. And unbelievably cinematic from every angle.

Some places are beautiful. And some places make people feel alive. Lake Como somehow does both.
